Re: The Toronto Star And the OLA on the Bedbug Issue
i am already using the bedbug sites to assist in my screening proceedures.
I have a responsibility to provide my tenants with quiet enjoyment of their apts (as per the RTA)
Therefore how can i responsibly accept tenants that have come from a building that has been reported to have bedbugs.
And if I am to follow Mpp Colle's suggestion, i need to see that any former rental from where the prospective tenants are comming has been bedbug free for 5 years.

Me too. I have to protect my property and am responsible for the other tenants in the unit. It sure would suck for a tenant to vindictively have the place they are in registered as infested when it's not. This will make it hard for them to rent a nice place with a careful landlord.
Re: The Toronto Star And the OLA on the Bedbug Issue
tenant screams discrimination and hauls LL to the ORHC...
-why are bedbugs considered a disability now!!!
It is irresponsible for a landlord to accept a new tenant from a suspected bedbug apt building...............period!
It jeporadizes the living conditions of the existing tenants in the building the possibly infected tenant is moving into.
Isnt that the whole purpose of Mpp Colles' bill: to identify bedbug problems.
Isnt that the purpose of MPP Cheri DiNovo's bill, to identify bedbug problems.
If I knowingly accept a tenant who has come from a building that has been identified with bedbugs, my existing tenants can take action against me as i have violated the Ontario Residential Tenancies Act by inteferring with their right to the enjoyment of their apt.
